Kentucky is a predominantly flat state. The subtropical climate often makes the weather warm and humid. The temperature is influenced by the proximity of the ocean and the highlands in the southeast. The influence of air masses coming from the Gulf of Mexico makes this region hot in summer and cold in winter.
