Seasons in West Virginia
West Virginia is a highland state. It is located in the eastern United States. The climate in one part of the territory is subtropical, in the other it is temperate. Average temperatures depend on altitude and distance from the Atlantic Ocean. The Allegheny Mountains reach a height of 4863 ft (1482 m).
Four seasons gradually replace each other throughout the year. Nature provides many opportunities for fishing, hunting and tourism. Hurricanes occur in the coastal zone, tornadoes rarely occur.

Spring in West Virginia
Spring is quite warm in West Virginia. Already in March, temperatures reach 50-53 °F (+10 +12 °C). There are frosts at night, and fogs often occur in the morning. Snow melts at the end of March, in April and May the temperature rises to 65-75 °F (+18 +24 °C). Melt snow and rains fill rivers and lakes with water, but it is too early to swim. The first thunderstorms are likely in May.
In addition to traditional rafting and fishing activities, we recommend taking time out for the historic and cultural sites of West Virginia. There are especially many such places in the city of Richmond. It contains many buildings reminiscent of the Confederation and the Civil War. The buildings of the Capitol, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and St. Paul's Church are distinguished by their unique architecture.

Summer in West Virginia
From June to August, West Virginia has temperatures above 70-75 °F (+21 +24 °C). The hottest month is July, with records of up to 87-95 °F (+30 +35 °C). Thunderstorms are common. Keep an umbrella or light raincoat nearby. Sometimes tornadoes are possible. It can get cold in the mountains at night, take warm clothes with you.
There are many tourism opportunities in West Virginia. There are hiking trails and camping in the mountains. There are many interesting caves, waterfalls, mountain rivers. People can go rock climbing, mountaineering, rafting. There are many sandy beaches on the coast. One of the best resorts is Virginia Beach. The city constantly organizes music festivals, air shows, beer fairs, golf tournaments.

Autumn in West Virginia
The velvet season begins in West Virginia in September. The temperature drops from 80 °F (+26 °C) to 44 °F (+7 °C). It will only get really cold in November - only 50-48 °F (+10 +8 °C). Frost is possible at night. The most beautiful time is the end of September and October, when the trees are painted in different colors.
The fishing and hunting season continues until cold weather. Tourists are recommended to visit the "historical triangle" - Yorktown, Jamestown, Williamsburg. It was here that many important battles of the Civil War took place. The city of Alexandria houses the Carlisle House Museum, built in the 18th century. It is worth seeing the Old Town, the Local Lore and Archeological Museum.

Winter in West Virginia
West Virginia near the coast of Atalantica has a fairly mild winter. In mountainous areas it is cooler and more snowy. Freezing temperatures range from 17 °F (-8 °C) to 42 °F (+5 °C. The snowiest month is January. Rains are likely. The western part of the state is slightly warmer than the mountains.
You can see beautiful views, go skiing, snowshoeing or dog sledding in Shenandoah National Park. Here you can rent horses, stay at a camping or a full-fledged hotel. You can visit the Monongahila Sanctuary in the east of the state. At any time of the year, many festivals take place in the small town of Harpers Ferry.
