Weather condition in continental part of the country and its island are different. Most of its territory lies in the zone of subtopic Mediterranean climate however only in couple of regions it has no special features. In addition climate of the country is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.

Central region has pronounced continental climate with hot summers with temperature above 32 °C (89 °F) and cooler winters when air barely coos below 10 °C (50 °F). Northern and north-western portion of the country is under influence of the Atlantic Ocean. There are mild winters and summers with smooth transition of seasons. Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea are drier and hotter while Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean has subtopic climate with minor differences of seasons.

Grand Canaria is the third biggest island among Canary Islands. It looks like giant mountain in the middle of the ocean because of its round shape and tall peak of Pico de Las Nieves (2000 m or 6560 ft.) in the center of the island.

Location and wide range of altitude provided suitable conditions to plant vegetation from Europe, Africa and both Americas. Weather varies from hot and dry coasts through subtopic forests to valleys with moderate climate and higher to snow caps of Pico de Las Nieves. The island has hot and dry climate defined by trade-winds. Southern side of the island is drier due to winds from Sahara. Average temperature of spring days is 22-23 °C (71-73 °F) and typically for dry climate difference between daytime and nighttime temperatures is significant. Spring nights are as cool as 15-17 °C (59-62 °F). Through summer temperature grows from 25-27 °C (77-80 °F) and there is absolutely no rain. Summer nights has 19-21 °C (66-70 °F) Moreover sandstorm may arrive rising temperature up to 50 °C (122 °F).

Autumn brings reduction of temperature from 27 °C (80 °F) to 24 °C (75 °F). There’s some rain in autumn, but annual amount of precipitation on Gran Canaria is around 130 mm (5”), so from travelling prospective it doesn’t really matters. Winter is the coolest season with 20-22 °C (68-71 °F) at afternoon and 15-16 °C (59-61 °F) at night.

Winter days are cool comparing to rest of seasons, but globally the season is pretty warm with around 16 °C (61 °F). Also weather on Ibiza is sunny with around 2750 hours of sunshine through a year.

Beautiful resort area on southern coast of Tenerife was recently separated from Playa de las Américas. It is luxurious area for family vacationing with modern hotels and infrastructure of respective quality. All three beaches of the resort were granted Blue Banner, special mark of clean water. They are also equipped with everything needed for good seaside vacationing: life-guards, parking, bus-stops, showers, lockers, lavatories and more.

All beaches are located in quiet bays with calm water perfectly suitable for kids. In addition there are some tracks for mountain strolls, aqua park and some observation platforms.

Costa Adeje Climate by Season

The resort is situated on the “island of eternal spring” and the name is completely justified by climate of Tenerife. Weather of the island is defined by influence of the sea, so unlike continental part of Spain winter there is warm. Spring and summer are the driest part of a year with only couple of showers through six months. Temperature grows from 23 °C (73 °F) in March to 30 °C (86 °F) in July and August.

In autumn precipitation appears again and daytime averages are going down from 29 °C (84 °F) to 24 °C (75 °F). Winter is the rainiest and the coolest season. Almost half of 225 mm (8.8”) of annual precipitation falls between December and January. Average high temperature for the season is 21 °C (70 °F).

In summer there is almost no noticeable rain and temperature reaches 30 °C (86 °F) and occasionally even higher.

Autumn brings rain back and causes drop of average high temperature to 25 °C (77 °F). Winter is the coolest and the wettest season, but temperature still sits around 22 °C (71 °F) and rains are frequent, but rather moderate in terms of intensity.
