Turkey lies in the subtropical climate belt. Composite landscape creates its diversity defining significant differences in particular areas.
- Turkey is washed by four seas, and majestic mountain ridges, dividing the plain, contribute to the creation of different climate zones:
- The South and West of the country (washed by the Aegean and Mediterranean seas);
- The European part of the country with the Marmara sea coast;
- The South-East of the country as the hottest region;
- The Center and East of Turkey which are remarkable for hot summer and snowy winter seasons;
- The country’s Black Sea coast with mild and humid climate.

Spring in Turkey
Turkey is famous for splendid resorts which are the most lucrative areas of the country. When spring comes, temperature rises up significantly and by April reaches +20…23 °C in afternoon and +13 °C at night. Sea water warms up to 20 °C. This is the best vacation period for those people, who can barely stand extensive heat. In spring (May, 19), one of the most respected holidays - Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day – is celebrated.
During springtime, multiple citrus trees, pomegranates, figs, almonds, apricots, and cherries blossom. Ploughed fields, market and vegetable gardens are cultivated closer to the coastal zone. Trees of the numerous forests put on their green coats. Diversity of the world of birds gets ready for breeding the future generation. In this time of year, Turkey is remarkably beautiful because of many tulip plantations.

Summer in Turkey
Summer is the most blessed time of the year to have a vacation in Turkey. Air temperature warms up to +27…33 °C, and sea water does not cool down at night and its temperature amounts to +25…30 °C. This time of year has the biggest stream of tourists. In summer, also happens Ramadan, which is one of the most famous Muslim fastings, calculated according to the local calendar and appointed in its time every year.
The country’s flora is very diverse and depends on its place of vegetation. The first tastiest cherries and rarely fragrant peaches ripen here. Orchid flowers, growing in the wild nature under shrubs, are exceptionally beautiful. And in waterlogged grounds one can find fleur-de-lises, lilies, buttercups, marsh orchids, and primulas. There are deers, does, roes, boars, leopards, bears, badgers, lynxes, jackals, and others which inhabit mountain terrains, prairies, and wild forests.

Autumn in Turkey
Autumn is the golden time for tourists. During the season, night air temperature is already noticeably lower and cools down to +12 °C in October; in the afternoon it can reach +28 °C, however sea water stays warm and its temperature goes down to +25…+28 °C. This is the best time to have a rest on the beach.
Eid al-Adha is the most important holiday for the Muslims, starts this time of year, lasts for 3-4 days, and represents sacrifice to God.
Autumn is a responsible period for harvesting in gardens, which there are a lot of. During this time one can harvest different kinds of mushrooms. Deciduous trees find their golden attires because of the leaf colors of yellow, gold and red.

Winter in Turkey
In winter, Turkey has no less interest for tourists. In mountains, it heavily snows which attracts fans of ski tourism. However, during wintertime it is still possible to see a variety of green spaces that are evergreen coniferous trees, laurels, and many others. Turkish reservation parks – Uludag, Munzur-Vadisi, Karatepe-Apslantash, Dilek, Keprulu, Olimpos-Beidagklari – are exceptionally beautiful at any time of year.
Winter temperatures in Turkey reach approx. +15..17 °C in afternoon and +5..10 °C at night, wherein water temperature is almost always stays at +18…20 °C. But for all that one can find a true winter with frosts in the mountains.
