Seasons in Georgia

Bright sun, white snow and green slopes of beautiful mountains are spectacular blend. And they all are in Georgia. Weather conditions of this country allows to experience all three seasons within single day. Snowed mountains and their foggy slopes, blossoms in foothills and hot summer on coasts of the Black Sea they are there waiting for visitors. Locations with blooming oranges and breath-taking cold air are often divided only by 100 km (62 miles).

The Caucasian ridge protects the country from cold air masses from north so Georgia is warmer than neighboring countries. Eastern half of the country is rainier than western. Western territories have maritime subtropical climate.

Spring in Georgia

Average temperature of March is about 15 °C (59 °F) and it’s is still too cold for swimming in the Black Sea. On the other hand this is perfect time for excursions of have some good old recreation in one of several thousand resorts.

At April weather is almost summerlike. It is rainy yet warm. Daytime temperature rises to 20 °C (68 °F) however it may suddenly drop to 10 °C (50 °F) but not for long. Summer in Georgia

Summer in Georgia is rather hot and is noticeable feature even at June. This is great time for family vacation due to lots of possibilities of comfortable quiet leisure. July is hot with average temperature of 27 °C (81 °F) and occasional leaps to 30 °C (86 °F). Cool evenings provide great opportunity to visit numerous restaurants with unique Georgia cuisine.

August is the time when heat reaches its peak. Daytime air temperature is somewhere between 30 and 35 °C (86-95 °F). Luckily water of the sea is warm enough (24 °C; 75 °F) and fast subtropical showers bring relief. It is definitely not time for excursions.

Autumn in Georgia

September is the beginning of The Velvet Season. Many travelers prefer this time to visit the country. The sea is still as warm as it was at August but devastating heat has gone and temperature doesn’t rise above 27 °C (81 °F). The month is suitable for any kind of activities offered by the country.

At October swimsuit season closes but weather is still pleasant. Temperature range shifts to cooler marks between 18 and 23 °C (64-73 °F). Rains are gaining frequency but they aren’t able to spoil vacation in Georgia. November is still warm but showers are becoming concern for visitors except adherents of thoughtful walks and romance of cloudy sky.

Winter in Georgia

December is wet and cold month in Georgia. Temperature is dangling somewhere around 10 °C (50 °F) and rains fall on daily basis. Main tourist activities shifted to mountains. Same stuff is continues at January unless interest to ski bases is gradually growing.

February isn’t that warm but not actually cold either. Temperature is slightly lower than at December or January but main concern is in continuous rains and high humidity. Occasionally cold cyclones bring snow but it is rather exceptional condition. But by the end of the month weather get better and locals are welcoming spring.
