Seasons in Utah

Utah is one of the mountainous states of the USA. The climate is desert to semi-arid. The proximity of the Gulf of California has a significant impact on the weather. 

Summer is hot, the best season for tourism is spring or autumn. Winter is short but cold. The western part of the state is the most deserted. The most picturesque landscapes are in the Colorado River Valley. Minor earthquakes are possible.

Spring in Utah

Spring brings warmth to Utah quickly. Temperatures range from 37 °F to 62 °F (+3 °C to +17 °C) in March, 43-75°F (+7 °C +24 °C) in April. In May, it is comfortable and already possible to sunbathe 52-86 °F (+11 °C +30 °C). Thunderstorms occur in late spring, but in general the weather is most favorable for tourism.

Those who are visiting the state capital of Salt Lake City will find it convenient to visit the Salt Lake. It is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the city, be sure to visit the majestic Salt Lake Temple and the Church History Museum. In April, the Indian spring festival Holi takes place in Spanish Fork.

Summer in Utah

Summers in Utah are hot and dry. Temperatures reach 85-100°F (+29 °C +38 °C). There is little rain, but there are thunderstorms. There are up to two tornadoes in the state during the year. In the heat, fires in the forest area are possible. At night in the mountains, a significant drop in temperature to 38-67 °F (+3 °C +19 °C) is possible.

You can find a pleasant atmosphere and an unusual rocky landscape in Zion National Park. It is located near the city of Springdale. Picturesque scenery is offered by Canyonlands and Arches National Parks near Moab. On the shores of the Great Lake there are many places for swimming and sunbathing.

Autumn in Utah

The best time to visit Utah is autumn. After the summer heat, comfortable temperatures from 61 °F to 92 °F (+16 °C to +33 °C) are maintained for a long time. The real cooling comes only in November. The temperature drops to 36-64 °F (+2 °C +18 °C). Freezing temperatures of 16-37 °F (-8 °C +3 °C) occur at night. Sometimes it rains.

Autumn in Utah is very picturesque. The red rocks of the canyons stand out colorfully against the background of snow-capped mountain peaks. Beautiful scenery can be seen at Capitol Reef Park or Nature Bridge Nature Reserve. Tourists are advised to visit the historic village of Gardner. Here everything is preserved as hundreds of years ago.

Winter in Utah

During the winter in Utah, temperatures can drop below 0 °F(+32 °C). Average temperatures from December to February range from 30 °F to 55 °F (-1 °C +13 °C). Major arctic storms and frosts do not overcome the protection of the eastern mountain ranges. However, heavy snowfalls and fogs are quite frequent.

Fans of winter sports are recommended to go to Bryce Canyon Park. It looks like a huge amphitheater and attracts many tourists at any time of the year. Wellsville is home to a historic farm and several renowned history museums.
