Seasons in Wyoming

Wyoming is considered a predominantly mountainous state. The average height above sea level is ~6500ft (~2000m). It is characterized by a continental semi-arid climate. 

Most precipitation falls in the mountains in the western territories. In the east, it is dry and hot in summer. The winter is cold and with little snow. The seasons are pronounced with large temperature fluctuations. The Continental Divide runs through the center of the state. The eastern part belongs to the sphere of influence of the Atlantic Ocean, while the western part belongs to the Pacific Ocean.

Spring in Wyoming

Spring is short in Wyoming. This is a period of frequent rains and abundant snow melt. Wind from the Rocky Mountains can bring dramatic warming of up to 70-80 °F (+20 °C +25 °C) during the day. Average temperatures in April are 50-60 °F (+10 °C +15 °C), while May is 55-70 °F (+12 °C +21 °C). Thunderstorms occur in late spring.

In late spring, you can visit the part of Yellowstone National Park, which occupies part of Wyoming. It is very beautiful here during spring blooming. Tourists love to look at the huge Old Faithful geyser and take pictures against the backdrop of the Grand Canyon.

Summer in Wyoming

Summers in Wyoming are pretty cool due to the high altitude. Even in the High Plains it never gets too hot. The temperature rarely rises above 70-85 °F (+21 °C +29 °C). Only in July there is a heat of 90 °F (32 °C). Little precipitation, many sunny days. In the southeast of the state, tornadoes are possible.

Wyoming has many natural attractions. Visit the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Memorial Walkway, Grand Teton National Park. The Devils Tower is located in the northeast of the state. It is a rocky monolith with a height of 5112ft (1558m) above sea level. The rock has long been a cult site for the Indian tribes.

Autumn in Wyoming

Autumn comes quickly and does not last long. The temperature in September is quite comfortable. It gets cool in October, 55-65 °F (+13 °C +18 °C). At night, temperatures drop below 32 °F (0 °C). The first snow falls. Low temperatures are set in November. Falls up to 15-25 °F (-9 °C -4 °C) possible. Precipitation is possible.

There are many resorts in Wyoming. You can relax in nature in Jackson Hole, Centennial, Saratoga. Everything here is provided for the comfort of tourists. In the last days of July, Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo takes place in the city of Cheyenne. This is a big national festival.

Winter in Wyoming

In Wyoming, it is long, cold, with frequent thaws. The temperature depends on the geographic location. In the mountains, it is often 1-10 °F (-17 °C -12 °C). In the lowland areas, it is warmer, 35-41 °F (+2 °C +5 °C). Snow cover quickly sets. Heavy snowfalls are common in the northwestern part of the state.

Locals dress warmer and spend time outdoors. Popular activities include snowmobiling, skiing and ice skating, snowshoeing, and snow tubing. History buffs can find historic neighborhoods in nearly every city in the state. There you can see a reconstruction of the Wild West.
