Louisiana's humid subtropical climate makes this state the best for relaxing, enjoyable outdoor pursuits. A lot of warmth, sun and short, not very cold winters.

Spring in Louisiana

After a mild winter, spring comes into its own rapidly. Temperatures steadily move from 56 °F to 82 °F (+13 °C +28 °C). Minus all southern states - storms, which are especially frequent in spring. In river areas, floods caused by flooding are possible. New Orleans especially suffers from this. The city is located in a swampy lowland.

Despite the vagaries of the weather, spring is considered the best time to visit Louisiana. At this time, nature blooms. It is worth taking a stroll through New Orleans, where many historic buildings have survived. The French Quarter is especially beautiful. The state was one of the last to concede in the confrontation between the South and the North. Many picturesque plantations have survived on the plains. Each city has its own museum.

Summer in Louisiana

After thunderstorms and hurricanes in May, summer brings relative calm. Temperatures rise to 87-94 °F (+30 °C +34 °C). Heavy rain is still possible. The hottest time is in July. In central Louisiana, temperatures up to 110 °F (+43 °C) are possible. In the afternoon, it is not recommended to stay in the sun, it is too hot.

In the summer in Louisiana, a lot of entertainment is offered by the rivers - Mississippi, Red, Washita. Fishing, hunting and hiking can be combined by stopping at a camping site. For history buffs, we recommend visiting the Olivier Bruchet National Museum of World War II. The Rosedown Plantation and Gardens are especially picturesque.

Autumn in Louisiana

Autumn is the second peak of the tourist season in Louisiana. Temperatures are still high, up to 32 °F (+13 °C +28 °C). October gets chilly at night. In November, thermometer readings drop to 66-72 °F (+19 °C +22 °C). However, sunny weather, lack of heavy rainfall and winds make this time pleasant for tourists.

Winter in Louisiana

Louisiana is quite warm in winter. Real frosts come only in mountainous areas in the north of the state. The average temperature is around 56-67 °F (+13 °C +19 °C). In the mountains, it can get colder up to 37 °F (+3 °C). Precipitation is rare. The skating rinks are mainly made of artificial ice. The coldest time is January, February is rather mild. The approach of spring is felt.

After Christmas, which is considered a family holiday, the next big entertainment is Shrovetide. Be sure to take part in the festive festivities. This is a great excuse to taste local food and listen to national orchestras.
